Description: This looks like the sort of pattern a man would want to wear; plain with all the effect achieved through the tweedy yarn. Bracken Tweed was an exceedingly nice yarn - I made my brother-in-law a plain roll neck when I was about 13 - you need to substitute something like Rowan Felted Tweed - but check your tension - as you can see, Bracken was a fairly dense DK whereas Rowan's is equally lovely but a lighter weight DK.

This is an early pattern with the ubiquitous centre crease, and knitted in Sirdar Supurl. I do not know this yarn and I am not able to guess the type from the quantities or needles, and there no other yarn options to help. My best guess is that it is 4ply or a light weight double knit.

I feel there must have been some driver for this - fashion icon of the day, James Bond, royalty, golfer, famous designer original etc but can find no reference to it and I do not remember it myself from personal experience.
