Please note:

Recent changes (a 70% increase) to the UK postage rates for printed papers sent outside the UK have meant that the price of a pattern for overseas buyers is now about 80% of the cost of the item. I can only apologise for this as I have simply transparently passed the increase on to the buyer. The only mitigation I can offer is to ensure a reduction of excess postage for multiple items shipped together.

Wool brand: Knitcot
Yarn quantity: Plain: 3 (2 oz? 50g? balls); Striped: 5 main plus 2, 1, 1 each of 3 contrasts. Makes 2 mats.
Sizes: : Plain: 10 x 16 or Striped: 12 x 23 (inches, including fringe)

Wool weight: No1 cotton (Aran/DK)
Hook size: 4mm or 3½mm
Tension : Plain: 1 pattern to 1 inch width; Striped: 4dc to 1 inch width

Description: Crochet placemats in heavier weight handicraft cotton.
No 1 cotton is often now described as "craft cotton" - I believe you can find examples on offer from Wendy and Lion Brand. The knitting tension is about 19sts to 10cm which would be Aran/worsted weight.
